Margot Comer studied art in Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco. She retired from a 30-year career in graphic arts in 1992 and began oil painting in earnest. The Comers moved to Roseville in 2000 and Margot’s local landscapes became favorites within the Northern California Community.
She immediately connected with the local art scene, participating in events and exhibits including Roseville Arts!, the Lincoln Arts Association, Roseville Splash, the Folsom Arts and Crafts Festival, Lake Forest Café, the Women Realtors Art and Wine Event, Celebration of Art at the Whitney Hills Golf Course, the Placer County Arts Council Autumn Art Studio Tour, and the Sun City Lincoln Studio Tour.
From 2001 through 2004, Margot owned Studio 5 Gallery in Downtown Roseville where she exhibited and sold the work of outstanding local and California artists alongside her own work. She taught oil painting classes at her gallery for three years, hosted workshops by guest artists and participated in the initiation of the Third Saturday Art Tour. She now teaches at Sierra College Continuing Education, the Maidu Community Center for the City of Roseville and Sun City Roseville. She serves on the board of the Lincoln Hills Art Association and is represented by the Noel Flynn Gallery and Frame Factory.
Margot paints with energy and confidence. Her brushstrokes are full of movement, engaging the eye and the spirit. Her landscapes often interpret well-known locations. Her still life studies offer spots of color and universal interest. Her figures speak to the heart, depicting some of life’s special moments.
